There are tons of quotes showing from Thomas Jefferson showing that he was a liberal. One of my favorites is:
Experience demands that man is the only animal which devours his own kind, for I can apply no milder term to the general prey of the rich on the poor.
-- Thomas Jefferson
Sounds like a OWS, 99%'er!
Most, if not all, of our founding fathers were politically quite liberal. Conservatives don't like that so they have started a war to re-write history and alter the memory of our founders. David Barton is a prominent leader of the conservative movement to rewrite history. Here's an excellent (and long) video debunking David Martin.
Anyway, post more relevant Thomas Jefferson (or other founders) quotes below. Thanks.
Truman and Brandeis Quotes - by christy
Well, not Jefferson quotes, but I love these about the dangers to democracy of high concentrations of wealth -- like, unfortunately, we increasingly have in America today. Here's two relevant quotes:
"The danger to democracy comes not from the masses but from the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few..."
-- Harry Truman
"We may have democracy, or we may have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both."
Louis Brandeis, U.S. Supreme Court Justice
