Founders were Conservative in Religious and Political Values

By Donad (Arkansas)

It is sad that we focus on only two of the founders: Franklin and Jefferson, and develop all kinds of rhetoric.

I suggest you visit the wallbuilders.com website and obtain more information....such as 29 of the signers of the Declaration were Pastors.

Many went on to found Universities...which at the time were Religious institutions. You can still get a copy of their charters.

The colonies charters all reference God as founder....you can still read them.

More than a few founders started Bible Studies, Sunday Schools, printed Bibles, and many, many other such activities....

Get the American Heritage Series by Barton....he presents everything from the....

ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, LETTERS, BOOKS of the time. Not a few lines from only two of the Founders!

Our Founders writings were preserved. And we can see that most were dedicated Christians!

David Barton a Quack? - by Mojo

I'm not an expert on David Barton, but from what I do know of him, I'm not impressed. I believe he has an agenda and distorts history to fit his agenda. With a bit of time I can locate much information that debunks David Barton. I don't think he would show his face in a meeting of true historians. I will look for some of it.

But, we can start by analyzing the 29 founding fathers you say David Barton said were pastors. I looked in Wikipedia and found no evidence to support that. However, it will likely depend on the list one uses of "founding fathers." Apparently, it's possible to include a great many people, maybe hundreds, on such a list -- in which case one would expect a certain number to come from many fields, including clergy.

In any event, can you tell us who these 29 people are and we'll go from there.

Oh, here's the wikipedia article I mentioned:

Founding Fathers of the United States.
